Anyone who reads my blog fairly regularly already knows about my deep love for the products of Black Elephant Manufaktur. Or maybe you know them from their previous shop, the Prinzess Schokobar. After closing it they now specialize in ‘not milk’ products, including milk, cheese and butter, as well as chocolate and amazing (cheese) cakes. And all of it completely free from palm oil, which is one of their main principles.
I paid them a visit today at their beautiful and bright little factory in the heart of Munich and we had such a great talk about their products and veganism in general. They are very passionate about what they do and have so much fun experimenting and trying the impossible. I especially love their philosophy to just concentrate on a few high quality products and how one thing led to another. For example after starting the production of cashew cheese they had to find a way to use up the remain and therefore we now have their delicious cashew milk.
You can find the products in the waste-free supermarket Ohne, chances are high that there might be other supermarkets like this featuring their stuff soon, too. The lovely cheesecake (which is so so good) can be found at Frischfutter, as well as other small dessert creations. And the best part: there’s now also an online shop where you can order some of the products as well! We definitely need more of those ideas in Munich – and everywhere else!
Let’s keep an eye on this little business, I’m pretty sure we will hear a lot of great things from them in the near future. In times like these it’s such a luxury to have the possibility to find the right way of manufacturing and distribution, but some things just can’t be rushed. Good things come tho those who wait, and if that cheesecake isn’t worth waiting for, nothing is!
